Profile:What We Do

BioResource International, Inc. (BRI) is a biotechnology company focused on harnessing the natural power of enzymes. Through the discovery and development of innovative animal feed enzymes, we help our customers and partners—located throughout the world—to create a future that is both economically and environmentally sustainable.

Headquartered in the Research Triangle Park of North Carolina, one of the world's largest hi tech research and development parks, BRI is within close proximity to academic researchers at NC State University and commercial poultry and swine growers across the state. Through academic and industry collaborations, we have developed and commercialized our animal feed enzyme technology platforms for various agricultural and research applications, including:

Growing Bigger and Healthier Chickens, Pigs, and Turkeys

Commercial animal producers with mid- to large-scale poultry and swine operations know that the cost of animal feed keeps rising due to increasing global demand for corn and soybeans. These factors continue to drive the demand for natural feed additives that can economically promote animal growth. BRI's pioneering Versazyme® product is a natural, heat-stable protease feed additive that has been shown to improve the nutritional value of feed in a number of academic and commercial feeding trials. For more information: Download the Versazyme® brochure or request a reprint of a journal article on Versazyme®.

Making Better Use of Natural Resources

In various parts of the world, feather meal is used as a natural protein source to supplement animal feed. BRI has developed a keratinase-based enzyme product called Valkerase® that has been shown to improve the efficiency of feather meal production. For more information: Download the Valkerase® brochure or read the scientific literature backing Valkerase® when you request a journal article reprint.

Reducing Environmental Impacts

BRI has found that adding Versazyme® to animal feed has many positive implications for the environment. Because Versazyme® significantly improves the digestibility of animal feeds, Versazyme®-fed animals excrete less nitrogen and ammonia in their manure. Moreover, because Versazyme® helps improve animal growth without hormones or chemicals, it allows farmers to reach their production targets with less reliance on prophylactic antibiotic use, which is banned in the EU and under pressure in the U.S. For more detailed information about Versazyme®'s environmental benefits, see the Versazyme® brochure.

BRI: Our Promise to You
