Supplementing poultry and swine feed with protein such as fish meal, poultry meal, and feather meal is an economical and ecological way to recover the nutritional value of the by-products of food production. But demand for protein sources—such as fish meal, seen in the graph below—has driven up prices to almost three times typical levels since mid-2009. Mid- to large-scale animal producers around the globe are looking for alternative and more cost-effective ways to supplement their traditional corn/soy animal feeds.

The Skyrocketing Cost of Fish Meal

Case Study -A poultry farm customer based in Asia reported not only reduced costs in their feed, but also increased pepsin digestibility; energy savings of up to 40% because of reduced cooking time; decreased odors, because the lower cooking temperatures required with Valkerase, reduced emissions; less cooker maintenance, because Valkerase will require less heat and steam.
